Active Fire Protection Consultancy

Tenos provides an independent, expert consultancy service to ensure legislative active fire protection compliance is achieved

Active Fire Protection (AFP) is an integral component of fire safety strategy. The inspection of AFP forms part of a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

AFP is characterised by items and/or systems which require a certain amount of motion or response in order to work (contrary to passive fire protection). AFP systems include fire alarms, fire detection, and fire suppression systems such as sprinklers.

To ensure an appropriate level of impartiality and independence, Tenos does not recommend specific AFP systems but will provide the necessary design expertise in the development of functional specifications for active fire protection systems. Our fire engineers work to ensure the building meets all of the relevant statutory requirements whilst assisting to minimise the impact of AFP services on the aesthetics or functionality of the building.

As the ‘responsible person’, you are duty bound to ensure the safety of people from fire and the effects of fire, which includes legislative active fire protection compliance.
