Today BSI announced the publication of PAS 9980:2022, “Fire risk appraisal of external wall construction and cladding of existing blocks of flats – Code of practice”. Jointly sponsored by DLUHC (previously MHCLG) and the Home Office, it provides a methodology for fire risk appraisals of external walls and give recommendations for the competence of professionals completing such appraisals. As well as plugging a knowledge gap this hugely important document will help provide the consistency for external wall assessments that the industry and stakeholders have been demanding.
