Principal Fire Surveyor


Role overview

As a Principal Surveyor within the Surveying team you will be managing a wide variety of projects in the UK, where you will be expected to manage quality, on time delivery and commercial delivery and financial outputs. Projects on your agenda will include building new and existing client relationships, reviewing technical documents along with managing the work of, and developing less experienced engineers/ surveyors.

Reporting to:

  • Associate Director or above

Responsible for:

  • Self, Mentee and Team Management

Mentored by:

  • Director

Liaises with:

  • External: Clients and client design team, enforcing authorities
  • Internal: Stakeholders, Directors, Managers, and technical colleagues

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Professional registration with the Engineering Council as a Chartered Engineer or with the RICS as a Chartered Surveyor
  • Broad and varied experience of working within Fire Safety
  • Ability to manage key client relationships

Key Responsibilities

  • Full project cycle management of own projects and larger cross-team projects
  • Financial management of projects
  • Engineer / Fire Surveyor Plus and Senior Engineer/ Consultant/ Surveyor mentor
  • Review Technical documents prepared by others
  • CPD
  • Carry out workshops on projects
  • Manage time responsibly
  • Adapt and be flexible to the needs of the business
  • Ensure your own well-being
  • Comply with the IFEs and where appropriate the RICS Code of Professional Conduct
  • Work within Tenos quality control standards and procedures
