IKEA take fire safety very seriously and all of their retail stores are protected by sprinklers and smoke ventilation. 

In order to maximise retail floor area by both increasing footprints and introducing mezzanines, IKEA sought alternatives to the existing smoke control approach. Tenos successfully developed cost saving solutions that allowed IKEA to:

> extend reservoir sizes without increasing smoke ventilation provision

> use open grid floors to vent smoke between ground floor and roof level without the need for smoke shafts

> utilise existing mechanical ventilation systems provided for day to day ventilation for smoke extract.

The National Health Service Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is a Special Health Authority within the NHS that operates from a portfolio of ninety fixed locations across the UK.

Managing a varied and diverse estate requires a practical, wide ranging approach to the delivery of fire safety management. Tenos was appointed in 2002 to provide fire safety advice, risk assessments and consultancy support across the entire NHSBT estate.

The development of Manchester United's 'Theatre of Dreams' has created a 76,000 seat stadium, the largest in the UK after Wembley. Tenos’ role was to develop the fire safety strategies for the East and West stands, and the North East and North West quadrants infills and negotiate the requisite safety approvals.

The innovative stadium now combines seating and hospitality facilities, a 1,800m² megastore, offices and a four storey atrium.

At 321m high with its central atrium, The Burj Al Arab is one of the world's tallest and most luxurious hotels. It is sometimes described as "the world's only seven-Star hotel".

With it's helipad on the 28th floor and a restaurant seemingly suspended in mid air, this hotel has become an internationally recognised landmark and icon on the Dubai skyline.

The building stands on an artificial island 280 m out from Jumeirah beach, and is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. The shape of the structure is designed to mimic the sail of a ship.

The Barnsley BSF project will provide nine state of the art Advanced Learning Centres (ALCs), one special educational needs school and one comprehensive refurbishment and extension of another secondary school. These eleven schools will replace Barnsley’s entire secondary school estate.

Working in partnership with Laing O’Rourke, Tenos provided fire safety consultancy and strategies for all eleven schools in line with the guidance of Building Bulletin 100.
